Spending New Year’s Eve away from home for the first time was a mix of excitement and nostalgia. This past New Year’s, I found myself far from the familiar surroundings of the Netherlands, celebrating in the heart of Makati, the Philippines. Ayala Avenue, known for its towering skyscrapers and lively urban vibe. Provided the perfect setting for my first countdown far from home.

A spectacular Setting

Ayala Avenue transforms into something truly magical on New Year’s Eve. This entire avenue was adorned with twinkling lights, and the air buzzed with anticipation. As the evening progressed, the crowd grew, filling the streets with chatter and laughter. This excitement was contagious, and I felt an overwhelming sense of belonging despite being thousands of miles/kilometers away from home.
